Smart Rural 21
In 2022, Viso A Viso and the Municipality of Ostana participated together in the Final Conference of the SmartRural21 Project in Gdańsk, a two-and-a-half-year initiative supported by the European Commission aimed at promoting strategies for “smart villages” across Europe. In 2020, Ostana was selected as the only Italian municipality among 15 across Europe. It was an opportunity to present Ostana’s strategy, even in front of European Commission members, particularly regarding cultural infrastructures for a new habitability of the village and sustainable mobility.
In March 2023, Ostana and Viso A Viso’s cultural project again presented themselves to members of the European Parliament during the launch event of "The European Startup Village Forum" as an example of culture-based regeneration, emphasizing the redefinition of essential services such as schooling and civic participation as the true engine of the process. Once again, the daily work of Viso A Viso and the Municipality of Ostana, along with the commitment and enthusiasm of the community in creating concrete responses to real needs within a synergistic public-private framework, was recognized.
